Legally Blonde

Role

Props Manager

Date

August-October 2024

Company

Elon University Department of Performing Arts

Location

Elon, North Carolina

For Legally Blonde, my role was to aid in the procuring and building of props, as well as maintaining the associated paperwork. I worked with the Props Supervisor, who also served as my mentor, to procure props both in person and online. We also took several trips to the department's prop storage facility, where I pulled set dressing for most of the scenes.

I was also responsible for the design of all paper props in the show, such as Harvard Law syllabi, business cards for the character Paulette, and a breakaway banner that the character Elle jumps through during the number "What You Want".

This production afforded me the most creative control that I've ever had and taught me that organization and communication are key in order to make the entire process go smoothly. It also gave me room to grow as an artist. But most importantly, Legally Blonde gave me room to fail, but in a safe and supportive environment that encouraged me to keep looking for other solutions.
